Is a New Home What You Want for Christmas?

Fall, then Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Black Friday, then buying a home? Many people's Holiday times may involve more turkey than buying a new home but there are some that do. But believe it or not the Holiday season may be the perfect time to ask Santa for a new place to hang your stockings. Below are the reasons why:

  1. Exclusive looking: The plus to buying a home during this time is that not many people are. Having an advantage on other home buyers can mean a better deal for you. If you're willing to put in the work, most lookers are not willing be out in the cold. This means that you will have an edge.
  2. Motivation: If you're selling in December, there is a good chance that this seller is more motivated to get rid of their home. Thus meaning, a better deal and more negotiations for you. This, again, can be an advantage for you.
  3. Tax reasons: Home ownership comes with great tax deductions. And if you buy before the year ends that will make a difference come April.
  4. Seeing the House in a different context: Of course, in the spring, homes will be beautiful. They'll be a clean smell in the air and new green grass in the yard. But what better time to buy when you can see how the yard looks dead and the leaves have fallen and the house is out of its "show home" template.
  5. Faster action: December is notoriously a slow month due to the holidays. This being said, you, as the buyer, will have a greater access to Realtors, Inspectors, and Brokers.
